What are the benefits of being a tutor?
Having the opportunity to tutor an international student is in itself a learning experience. The sessions may be a time for exchanging information about languages, customs, and cultures. Occasionally, volunteers tutor international students in English in exchange for lessons in their native language. This must be negotiated between you and the international student, however. A letter of reference will be provided on request if you provide a tutor log of the semester’s tutoring activities. The English Tutor Program Coordinator will supply you with a log sheet for you to record the dates and times of your sessions, and your number of tutoring hours. Both you and your student must initial the log sheet and submit it to the English Tutor Program Coordinator when you come to the end of your sessions.
