What are the benefits of being a Safer Journeys School?
We are trying to create a safer environment for everyone by encouraging our children to become fitter and healthier through daily exercise and by reducing the congestion and fumes caused by cars on the school run. There is a variety of mesures which may be used to reduce the risks encountered on the shcool journey and Safer Journeys can assist with funding a wide range of solutions tailored to suit individual schools’ needs. Every school is unique, and what is suitable for one location may not be appropriate at another, but Safer Journeys projects have included the provision of new pedestrian entrances, parent waiting areas and shelters, improvements to bus turning facilities, cycle storage, walking buses, additional guardrail, improved school signs and road markings and safer crossing places.
