Ok, if you foul someone while they are not shooting the ball, a side ball is taken. If you foul them while shooting, they get 2 free throws. So a driving foul would be taken for a side ball, because they were not shooting. And say they get the goal and our fouled while shooting, they get one shot at the free throw line(for a 3 point play) A foul is called mainly for when you slap or block.
