What are the basic steps that go into recycling Aluminum Cans?
Cans are sorted and consolidated, and baled or crushed, melted down and then the old aluminum is converted into new products (such as more cans). A lot of energy is saved when recycling aluminum, more than other materials like paper. It takes a lot of energy to mine or dig up bauxite (aluminum ore) and process it into aluminum. It is a lot easier to melt down used cans, and go from there.
