To be eligible to become an instructor for the Teamster Training Program, the individual must be employed by a Teamster Training Trust or Local Union Training Program and attend a comprehensive Instructor Training Program (IDP). This program provides the prospective instructors with the applicable technical and regulatory knowledge and the adult education teaching techniques needed to effectively conduct safety training courses. Upon completion of the IDP, the prospective instructor is allowed to assist experienced program instructors conduct basic safety training courses. Prior to becoming a full authorized instructor, the prospective instructor is monitored and evaluated by experienced instructors and the IBT Program Office staff.
