What are the basic IP rules applicable to the Ideas projects (European Research Council)?
The basic IP rules are laid down in the specific model core grant agreement and its Annex II single-beneficiary or Annex II multi-beneficiary. These rules are largely similar to the general model provisions. Nevertheless, it should be noted in particular that the principal investigator and the principal beneficiary (i.e. the host institution) must enter into a supplementary agreement, compatible with the grant agreement, to detail arrangements relating to intellectual property rights such as access rights to background and foreground, publicity and confidentiality. The principal beneficiary shall ensure that the principal investigator and his research team have access rights (on a royalty-free basis) on the background and the foreground needed for their activities under the project.
