What are the basic beliefs of methodists?
Answer Vera, Thanks for asking. We are a Protestant denomination, meaning that we hold salvation is by God’s grace, received by our faith, and is in no way a result of our works. We believe that all persons must be saved. No one can be good enough on their own to merit salvation. We believe that all persons can be saved. No one is so bad that they are beyond the reach of God’s grace. We also believe that some persons reject the grace of God and remain in their sins. This is not God’s fault, but theirs and ours. We believe that the saved can know they are saved. We hold that God’s Spirit witnesses to our spirit and gives us an assurance that we can and do trust the finished work of Christ upon the cross on our behalf. We believe that all the saved can be saved completely in love. That does not mean that we are made sinless, but that God’s love can be perfected in us. We believe everyone is justified to God by the blood of Christ on the cross. This is an accomplished fact, and we cannot
