The available bearers for SMS are GPRS and GSM Data. There is a setting in the phone that controls SMS sending. The setting has two options: 1) Default. Always send the SMS over GSM signaling. If the GPRS connection is open, then GPRS will be suspended while sending the SMS. 2) Automatic selection of the transmission path. The phone will use SMS over GPRS when available; when not available, GSM signaling will be used.
