What are the arrangements for school meals and milk?
The Council aims to provide a varied, healthy diet for all Fife primary, special and secondary school pupils and offers a daily choice of Dish of the Day, home made soup, salads, vegetables, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice, milk shakes and cheese and biscuits. Currently, a two course lunch in primary and secondary schools costs £1.30 and secondary schools offer a cash cafeteria option with individually priced items; special schools provide meals free of charge. Most special dietary needs, religious or medical, can be catered for. Milk is available to nursery and special school children free of charge and to primary school pupils at a subsidised cost of 10p per carton, Free school meals and milk are available to children whose parents/guardians receive Income Support or an income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance. Application forms are available from Council Local Offices. For further information, please contact the Head of Education.
