What are the approximate costs of a Constitutional Convention?
Costs vary, depending on the size of the convention, the length of time it would meet, and the size of the staff needed to conduct the Convention in a reasonable and transparent manner. Early estimates place the cost anywhere between $50 and $80 million. To put that in perspective, its estimated that California loses $40 million dollars for every day the state government is late in passing a budget. Regardless, the Propositions state that no more than $95 million can be spent on this Constitutional Convention.
