What are the American influences in the French films “Nikita” and “8 Femmes”?

I’ve not seen 8 Femmes and don’t speak French but: Nikita is very French in that the ‘goodies’ are bad and do not get punished for it. If you think of 3 men and a baby, the drugs element is changed for the US version so that when the baddy gets off, the others are not bad (if you see what I mean). Just because a French film is so good that it warrants a US version, does not mean that the original is full of US influences. My opinion is that some critics always say that a foreign film is American if it is commercial and good fun. It is true to say that the US / Canadian Nikita has French influences. Has your examiner got it the wrong way round. (And it’s rubbish!) Maybe I should watch it again.
