What are the alternatives to BDL?
Best Friends is supportive of making communities safe. However, our position is that there are humane ways to do it. Best Friends recommends that communities adopt policies that will reduce the incidences of bites by addressing the root causes of aggression in all dogs. Some of these include: spay/neuter, anti-tethering/chaining, stronger anti-cruelty laws and off-leash dog parks. Best Friends also endorses ordinances that identify and restrict dangerous dogs or potentially dangerous dogs.
