What Are the Allergy Symptoms to Bakers Yeast?
Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the scientific name for baker’s yeast. It is a fungi and a common ingredient found in bread products, beer and wine. An allergic reaction to baker’s yeast is more likely when food is freshly baked or when directly inhaled. There is a relatively small percentage of allergic reactions from baker’s yeast because most healthy people have enough good bacteria to fight off the overgrowth of yeast. However, health issues occur when there is excessive yeast production combined with an abnormal immune system.
