The Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) HIRF certification requirement for aircraft systems is currently addressed by a Special Condition – Airworthiness (SCA). The HIRF SCA is applicable only to systems which perform critical functions. Each system, which performs critical functions must be designed and installed to ensure that those functions are not adversely affected when exposed to the HIRF environment. A critical function is a function whose failure would contribute to or cause a failure condition which would prevent the continued safe flight and landing of the aeroplane.
