What are the airline requirements for transporting a pet?
When Soldiers report to SATO to book their flight for return to the US, they need to ensure that the SATO representative knows that they have pets, how many and what size so that they rep can ensure the SM is booked on an airline that does in fact ship pets and has berths available, if needed, on the flight for pets. For example, US Airways does not ship animals so Soldiers with pets should not allow SATO to book their flight on this airline. They will also require an appointment to have their animal examined for a health certificate no more than 10 days prior to their flight date.
