What are the ages of the children in foster care?
A. The children range in age from birth to 18 years. When children reach the age of 18, they become, legally, adults. However, a child who is near the age of 18 can sign a CARS Agreement (Continuing Residential Support) and voluntarily remain in the foster care system until the age of 21. This enables the child to continue to receive services for placement, medical, and educational needs.
