What are the advantages of waxing over shaving?
Waxing removes the hair follicle located within the dermas of the skin from the root, and it can take up to three months before the new hair comes through – the tip of the regrowing hair is fine and pointed and is therefore less ‘intrusive’. Shaving, on the other hand, cuts across the hair just above the surface of the skin – the regrowth is ‘blunt’ and detectable shortly after shaving. For this reason, waxing keeps your skin feeling smoother for longer. Shaving can also produce ingrown hairs which can become extremely uncomfortable, and may also cause shaving ‘bumps’. There is also evidence suggesting that repeated waxing will, over time, damage the hair follicle enough to reduce the strength of hair growth.
