What are the advantages of using LED over Halogen lights, or others?
• The biggest advantage is the lower power consumption. LEDs produce more light per watt than most other light bulbs. This light bulb has a light output that is comparable to a 10W Halogen light but only uses 12% of the energy. Run 8 of them and use still less energy than with 1 halogen light. • If used correctly, LED lights have a very long lifetime. Much longer than a regular light bulb with a “hot wire” (incandescent, halogen, …), and also longer than compact fluorescent (CFL). Some people report of 100,000 hours – we haven’t tested that yet to finish. • LEDs can emit light of an intended color without the use of color filters that traditional lighting methods require. This is more efficient. • The solid package of the LED can be designed to focus its light. Incandescent and fluorescent sources often require an external reflector to collect light and direct it in a usable manner. • LED lights are typically very small.
