Mail order prescription services enable plans to provide prescription drugs at lower (wholesale) prices, resulting in savings to both the plans and you. Mail order services also have extra controls built in that generally aren’t available through local retail pharmacies. For example, two or three pharmacists double-check your prescriptions before they are mailed to you. Also, the mail order service controls when a prescription should be refilled, based on your doctor’s written prescription.
