Telewest has a large backbone network and is offering an IPVPN with MPLS service. Many IPVPN vendors have to buy in bandwidth from service providers or offer Internet VPNs that can suffer from traffic problems as they go across the world-wide web. Telewest IPVPN is centrally managed by Telewest and has been designed by Telewest design engineers in conjunction with Cisco. There is commitment by the Telewest board to ensure that the network is upgraded to enable customers to take advantage of new technologies as they are ratified. Telewest has plans to offer DSL to VPN services that would enable home working in a way currently not possible. Many other IPVPN service providers will not be able to offer this high bandwidth, cost-effective access method.
