What are the advantages of SureStream?
• The primary advantage for the producer is that you only have to encode one media file to reach multiple bandwidths. The advantage for the user is that there is only one link to click and the user doesn’t have to know what kind of connection s/he is on – the Real Player and Helix Server figure this out for the user. • Another key advantage to SureStream is that it allows the Helix Server to dynamically vary the bitrate of the media it sends to the Player in order to deal with network congestion. If a player requests media at 256kbps but finds that the network conditions won’t sustain that high of a bitrate, it can get media at a lower rate, such as 192kbps or 128kbps. • For the user this means that rather than playback stopping when bandwidth is compromised, instead the media quality is reduced, but playback continues.
