The advantages are in scaling, sizing and color manipulation. If you export in 8 bits, you can only get 256 shades of gray or color. If you use 10 bit, it’s 2000 and 12 bit it’s 4096. This difference is small, but it enables you to keep your options open in terms of your final image.
