What are the advantages of making the log persistent?
1) the log information will stay around no matter how many times tracelog32 and the DLL are unloaded from memory. 2) it will also be there next time you turn on the computer, and the time after that, and after that etc. 3) by using a UNC filename for the buffer file you can view the log of a remote computer. Whilst this may sound simple and appealing, there is unfortunately a catch…. viewing a log across a network will usually lag a considerable time behind the actual log, and is often unuseable. Unfortunately this lag is a consequence of of Win32 file caching and cannot be avoided.
