Lasik is the fastest and safest way today to correct your defective vision. Usually you won’t feel any pain during or after the surgery. The surgery itself only takes a few minutes and you can return home right after the procedure. Your power of seeing will improve very soon, so that only a few hours after the eye surgery your vision is as good as it only was with glasses before. For the first days you have to use antibiotics to avoid inflammations as well as artificial eye tears (for the first weeks) to avoid problems due to dry air for example. For a few patients (less than 10%) a second surgery which corrects everything might be necessary if slight defective vision has remained (this actually only affects people which had very high defective vision). After the correction some few people experience some minor problems in the darkness, for example they feel slightly blinded by lights at night.
