What are the advantages of having a HOA?
The advantages of HOA’s are numerous. First and foremost, they simplify the process of running a semi-autonomous community by incorporating as an organization and vesting the management of the community resources in a Board of Directors. Second, HOAs bring order to a community by enumerating what are acceptable standards of maintenance for individual dwellings, which is probably the most beneficial aspect resulting from the existence of an HOA. By setting standards and enforcing those standards with sanctions, fines, and sometimes lawsuits, the HOA provides all homeowners with clear guidelines for how the community wishes its’ homes to look and be maintained. This effect tends to perform a self-fulfilling role toward maintaining an attractive atmosphere within the community.
