They really arent any advantages to get to Mars from anyones view point as this would only be a ture waste of money as nothing can be accomplished there to help the people back on earth and it would take many years to develop something livable there so it would be political suicide in todays economy to persue it as the tax payers money is definitely needed elsewhere
