What are the advantages of e-assessment?
1. Improved validity: Well designed e-assessment can be more valid than traditional assessment. The use of text, sound and video can make questions clearer and more realistic than the narrative descriptions imposed by paper assessments. Research has shown that the reduced emphasis on language skills (through the increased use of multimedia) improves the performance of male candidates. 2. Increased reliability: E-assessments can be more reliable than paper assessments. There is more year-on-year standardisation in the questions and less variance in marking standards.
