The Cool Shades sold at GroWell are of the 6-inch tubular type. These are very efficient at reducing heat as an extractor is attached directly to the end of the tube so the heat is sucked straight off the lamp. You do lose a bit of light, but it does mean that your lamp can be lowered directly onto your plants. Quality is often improved due to the reduction in heat.
