What are the advantages of conducting genetic research?
1.) You can cure genetic diseases. 2.) You can feed poverished countries (i.e. golden rice is free to the poor and it contains a margin of the vitamin A that your body does not naturally produce on its own). Basically you can genetically modify crops to be resistant to disease, herbicides, heavy metal intoxicated soils, and also make the crops insect resistant (i.e. the Bt gene). 3.) You can make organisms look more interesting (i.e. the glolight danio is a zebra fish that is made through recombination to express the flourescing color that a jelly fish express — and they also have mice that glow in the dark).
