What are the advantages of Canon CR5 over the conventional ophthalmoscopy or photography procedures?
The Canon CR5 is the most advanced form of technology available today. The sensitivity rate with ophthalmoscopy is about 66 per cent while with 35mm photography, it is about 88 per cent. Most often with the ophthalmoscope, at least 40 per cent of sight threatening lesions are missed in the eye. With the Canon CR5, precision and accuracy can be assured since the image appears immediately on the computer screen. These may be monitored by the physician examining the patient or even transmitted to another expert from other centres. Teleconferencing has also been made possible through networking.
