What are the advantages of Black Oxide over other finishes and/or platings?
Black Oxide is more advantageous for two reasons: Cost and durability. Black Oxide is one of the most economical finishes available, much less than most platings. Black Oxide actually penetrates the outer shell of the product, which leaves the dimensions of the product unchanged, and there is no coating or plating on the product that could chip or peel. These two reasons alone make Black Oxide the preferred rust preventive finish of the metal machining industry.
