What are the advantages of autoclave bonding of film adhesives?
Autoclave bonding provides uniform pressure distribution over the adherends surface using a similar technique to vacuum bag lamination. Autoclave bonding differs by the presence of a significantly higher external (outside the bag) pressure. Because of the increase in pressure over the entire system, the volume of entrapped air is significantly reduced and in most cases eliminated all together. This is also a slow process that requires vacuum to be pulled, pressure to be applied and heating of the pressure chamber.
