The only electric violins (which I know of, and I have researched them) which allow you to block out the sound with headphones are the more expensive ones, but you may have more luck in finding one. You could also need an amp (amplifier) and the appropriate cables to join them, however you can use some electric violins with a computer. The acoustic violins usually start at a cheaper price than electric, so they may be better to start off with and to choose whether you still want to continue, however these violins will probably not be of very good quality. If it is a good quality acoustic violin, it is likely to sound better than a lot of electric violins, anyway! You can also use different effects with electric violins (e.g. distortion; guitar effects), so when you are more experienced, you can play around with those functions.
