Ceramic sleeve offer higher precision, it’s more costly and it’s recommended for singlemode application. Fiber adapter with ceramic sleeve is good for both singlemode and multimode applications. Metal sleeve is more durable compare to ceramic but the precision is not as high as ceramic and it’s recommended for multimode application. Is not recommended to apply metal sleeve adapters for singlemode application.
