On Friday, the Goodwill store opened Edgar’s Coffee. The shop serves café-style coffee, smoothies and other beverages. Prices range from $1 for a 12-ounce cup of joe to $3.75 for a 20-ounce smoothie. “We wanted to give our customers another benefit of shopping at Goodwill and another way to save during these tough economic times,” said Tammy Friedeck, marketing specialist for Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina. The store also “hopes to attract a new customer base that wouldn’t typically come into Goodwill,” she said.
