What are the advantages/disadvantages of creating the online documentation using VML vs. PDF?

The VML documents are a bit easier to maintain and don’t require installation of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The PDF documents don’t require the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, provide a nicer zoom capability and additional tools that are helpful when working with large diagrams.
