What are the advantages/disadvantages of a standard/piggy back installation?

When engine compartment space is premium, the piggyback installation may not be an alternative. The Mobi Weld Bosch alternator was manufactured to provide normal battery charging capabilities as well as welding/generation output. However, when the power unit is switched from ‘Normal’ to the “Power” position, the battery is no longer being charged. Therefore, after 50-60 minutes in the “Power” mode, the unit should be switched back to the “Normal” mode to top off the battery for about 5 minutes. When a piggyback installation is utilized, the unit is not used to charge the battery and can be run continuously; the only limitation being the fuel in the gas tank.
