What are the advantages/disadvantages of a combo amp?
The obvious advantage is having your complete amp setup in one box. This simplifies you system minimizing problems like bad speaker cords or wrongly matched head/cabinet setups. The disadvantage is with amps that have multiple speakers in them, you now have a heavy piece to deal with. For instance, a tube amp (which is typically heavier than solid state) with 2-12″ speakers (or even 4-10″s) can be quite hard to manuever in and out of cars, etc.
