What are the advantages and disadvantages of specializing in a particular branch as opposed to training in different branches?
Specializing in a particular branch allows players to be very effective in certain, limited situations. For example, a Matis Warrior who has specialized in Matis Mace will be extremely effective in dishing out blunt damage. However, if he were to face off against a creature that’s resilient to blunt damage, he’d be in trouble. In such a case, a player who didn’t specialize in Matis Mace, but rather, trained in the general 1-Handed Melee skills, will have more of a chance. He may not be as effective with a 1-Handed Mace as a player who specialized in Matis Mace, but he will be more effective at using a larger variety of 1-Handed Melee weapons and damage types.
