What are the advantages and disadvantages of organic farming / produce?

I can only tell you from experience. I have gardened both ways, but the reason that I garden organically is more out of laziness that any desire to avoid chemicals. I think of chemicals the way that I think of neutrons from the sun. They are all around us and there is no avoiding them. I very seldom spray, and if I do it is on individual plants. But there are farmers around me that spray, so I know that sometimes my stuff gets hit by drift. I got a lot more produce from using fertilizers, except when the soil was virgin. The best potatoes I ever raised were from ground that had never been farmed. They were huge. The soil was very loamy. The onions from that ground were also huge. I used nothing but water at that time. The best watermelons that I raised were from ground that was also virgin, but I used fertilizer on them. I often grow vegetables like eggplant, mizuna, leaf lettuce, and peppers in tubs. I use potting soil like Supersoil and Miracle Grow. I grown green onions in planters
