What are the advantages and disadvantages of marketing mix?
a marketing mix is when you try different marketing types. Like emails, TV, adverts flyers, telemarketing, business letters etc If you do one form of marketing you are putting all your eggs in one basket. Companies often do this because they are used to always doing it that way. Or one or two ways. In IT sales it’s often just cold calling and sending out emails to get appointments. Businesses are often scared of trying new angles because they don’t want to spend money on something that might not work. The advantage of lot’s of different types of marketing is that you will get a better feel for what works best. A disadvantage of marketing mix is that some angles wont work for some products. You don’t really know until you try so the best practice is to do a little of everything, see what works best, and then do more of what works best. Many companies strive to find the best way and throw everything at it. This is a far more risky approach as you are unlikely to pick the most productive
