What are the advantages and disadvantages of Laptops rather than desktop computers other than portability?

One huge benefit is the battery. When the power goes out, a desktop abruptly shuts down, potentially causing loss of data and/or corruption of data if you were in the process of saving something. Laptops just keep on running. Size is another huge benefit. Two years ago I built out my own office suite for me and six employees. I went with laptops due to the mere size. Little tiny things that sat off to the side taking up very little desk area, as opposed to their larger cousin the desktop. Regarding portability, which you exclude, remember the DATA also comes along with the laptop. You want to work from home of the weekend and with a laptop, you have ALL your files with you. With desktops, you have to copy the files you need onto some medium (CD, flash drive)….that copying takes time and money, plus if you forget one file….you’re screwed. Disadvantages include battery management/life (you must drain it complete at least once per month to keep it viable or it only lasts about a year)
