Compared to what? Integrated bluetooth radio or a sync cable? What are you looking to accomplish with bluetooth? A bluetooth dongle is just a bluetooth radio that plugs into a USB port. They can be used to sync a bluetooth PDA to your desktop computer, but it takes in the neighborhood of 1.5 to 2 times longer than a sync cradle with a USB cord. The advantage is it is wireless. I can sync my pda wirelessly from about 35 feet away from my laptop. Another disadvantage to the dongle is they are easy to loose. Integrated bluetooth is hard to loose. A sync cradle is hard to loose. My 3 year old swiped the bluetooth dongle from the front USB port on my desktop. It was gone for a month before I found it. In fact today, it is gone again. The upshot is with a bluetooth dongle, you can pair just about anything else bluetooth to your PC too. Wireless keyboard, mouse, headphones, I am sure there are others too.
