What are the admission requirements for the undergraduate program?
• Minimum GPA: 2.50 • Three letters of recommendation • One from a college or university instructor who can address your academic abilities. For applicants to the secondary certification program, this academic letter of recommendation must come for a college or university instructor who can speak to your academic abilities in your proposed teaching major. • Two from individuals who can address your ability and potential to become a successful teacher (e.g., work ethic, skill in working with children/young people, personal characteristics). Choose references carefully. Avoid letters from family members, neighbors and personal friends. • A personal statement, and, if secondary, an essay related to your proposed teaching major • Transcript(s) showing grades through the fall semester or term directly before application • Résumé • For non-UM students: high school SAT/ACT scores (from high school transcript) • Ability to complete 54 semester hours before you enter the program In addition to
