While I have no statistics, it appears to me that it is McCain and his personal stance. I don’t think it has anything to do with political party. While I am pro-choice, this debate has been going on since what seems like forever. Almost wasn’t going to vote for him for this reason however, he can’t wave a magic wand all by himself, so knowing it has to go through all our political channels and be voted on – well, i will vote for him.

Kerry Kennedy, daughter of RFK and author of Being Catholic Now, stated in an NPR interview that in Democratic administrations abortion rates go DOWN 34% while in Republican administrations, abortion rates go UP 14%. This is due to the social programs that Democrats put in place to educate, provide contraception, counsel, adoption alternatives. Democrats provide services that DETER abortion, not promote it. Being Pro-Choice is about giving a woman the right to do what she is entitled with her body, her life. Anyone who has not been in a position of being pregnant with no means of support (unlike Palin’s daughter) or being pregnant through rape or incest has no right to judge. Speaking of Palin, interesting that she gave HER daughter the choice, but she will not allow us to give OUR daughters that same right. If conservatives truly love and respect life, why do they neglect the poorest among us? Provide sex education and contraceptives (face the facts, people have sex!!!!) and abortion

Although I wish every pregnancy would lead to a living healthy baby – that would either be raised by it’s birth mother, or given to an adoptive mother who would die for a baby, making abortion illegal would never solve this problem. We definitely would see more “MURDER” on the “live baby” level. This is a sensitive topic that has been exploited by the Republicans for years. Not one Republican has done CRAP to overturn Roe v Wade, or anything that they campaign for in their “pro-life” debates. If they’re so interested in Pro-Life, why not invest in a system where you don’t need $40,000 to adopt a baby? Make adoption easier. Provide assistance and or incentives to pregnant women to have their babies, and give them to caring parents. When you try to FORCE such a personal decision, you will be faced with rebellion. CHOICES should be provided, as well as the means to make these choices easier to make.

It’s not the political channels one has to worry about with changing abortion laws, it is who ever is President this election period will be in position to place up to 3 new judges in the supreme court. Count them up to 3. And this could change a few laws already in place, hopefully not, but never know adding that many at one time. In my opinion, I wish there was a way to keep either party from having any control of who sits in them seats. But for now we don’t. Now I am confused…. How does wanting a woman to have the choice to abort or not set women back?? I don’t believe having or not having the money to deliver a baby is a deciding factor in all abortions, it may be to some, but just as many, if not more turn & look at a state to cover the cost. I believe it should be a woman’s choice either way, not government’s choice. An abortion should only be one of the many tools for all to have in considering. Education is a far more important tool to help prevent the need of ever having to
