What are the 5 largest and most powerful and technological advanced air-forces and navys in NATO?
Fighter jets, bombers and support craft are not cheap. The US has a greater landmass to “cover” whereas the UK is practically an island and is the size of a state. There might be some restriction on the amount of aircraft that a state’s military can have, and a limit on total displacement of naval vessels that are attributed to the states naval capabilities. It therefore make’s sence that France and Germany acquired, used and maintained almost three times of much aircraft as the UK does, given the landmass differences. Concerning naval vessels, that I think is down to the state’s opinion or military need. For example the new T34’s under construction wont mean that we have many more vessels but it would mean that we have up to date, combat capable vessels. As for as I seen the Royal Navy does operate a Auxiliary and the Navy (Royal Navy) and intend to have at least 5 warships at sea at any one time.
