Pressing these buttons makes the tempo indicator base the tempo on a quarter note, eighth note, or 16th note. A tempo of 60 bpm on the 16th setting is the same as a tempo of 120 on the 8th note setting, and 240 on the 16th note setting. The default setting we recommend is the 16th note setting. However, in really fast pieces, you may want to use the quarter note or eighth note setting, as they can make the MIDI timbres sound a lot shorter and snappier.
