What are the 2 extra pieces for that are in the bags with the large plastic nuts?
They are there in case you break off a piece of the “fingers” that grip the pole and tightening the nuts no longer locks the machine in position. If this happens break the rest of the “fingers” off then slide the pole through the machine as usual and slip the hard plastic ring with the split in it over the pole down to the machine followed by the large plastic nut and tighten to lock into place as usual. The soft rubber ring can also be used to increase friction. If necessary it goes on in between the hard plastic split ring and the large plastic nut.
