What are Temporal Lobes?

0

Temporal lobes form one of four regions that the front part of the brain is split into. They lie in the sides of the head, above and around the ears. They control hearing, speech and memory, and are thought to be involved with certain types of hallucinations. One way of increasing understanding of how a brain works, is by studying what happens when parts don’t work as it should, either as a result of head trauma or medical diseases. Temporal lobe epilepsy is when the abnormal electrical activity originates from the temporal lobes. Many describe strange smells or tastes just before a seizure. Others have visions or auditory hallucinations.
