What are teachers rights?
The teacher may have the right to use of corporal punishment to discipline a child in thirty states. But he/she has no right to lash out on the spur of the moment, push a child’s head or legs, or drag a child to a trampoline to coerce that child to use the trampoline. The teacher did not use “corporal punishment” but treated the incident with a violent set of actions or brutality that were emotionally driven. A teacher should never administer punishment to a child from his or her emotions or without knowledge of school laws that govern school discipline. What you as a parent can do is to write the details of when, where, and how this incident occurred. Make sure that your child was not injured. Take pictures of the injuries. If he or she thinks they are serious, your child should receive treatment from the doctor. Get a copy of the doctor’s report.
